I love Mexican food, all sorts of Mexican food. My children share this passion as well. We used to have one day set aside each week for what we called “taco night”. Unfortunately, my British husband never seemed to share in our excitement. Even though we would make enough to feed a neighborhood, by the time we were done, he might settle for toast in the end. I’ve tried to find new “tweaks” to bring him over to the bright side. He will eat almost anything now wrapped in a soft tortilla, so that’s something.

Ceremonies will be held June 8, 9, and 10. Times and days are as follows:

Friday, June 8

  • 4 p.m. College of Education and Integrative Studies
  • 8 p.m. College of Environmental Design

Saturday, June 9

  • 9 a.m. College of Business Administration
  • 4 p.m. College of Engineering
  • 8 p.m. Collins College of Hospitality Management

Sunday, June 10

  • 10 a.m. College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences
  • 4 p.m. College of Science
  • 8 p.m. College of Agriculture

All ceremonies are held at the University Quad. Parking permits will be required for every vehicle prior to entering any parking lot.

Pre-purchase permits for $5 beginning at the Cap & Gown Sale until Thursday, June 7. Permits are $10 each when purchasing the day of the ceremony. Only cash will be accepted the day of.

Valid Parking permits that will be honored include Spring Quarter 2012, Student Annual 2011/2012, Faculty/Staff Spring Quarter 2012, Faculty/Staff Annual 2011/2012, and valid Cal State University Quarterly/Semester permit.

Disabled and limousine parking is located in Lot C and also requires a paid permit. A parking officer will provide parking instructions.

To avoid delays and have optimum parking the day of commencement, it is highly recommended that parking permits be pre-purchased for your family and friends.

Admission tickets are not required and there is no limit to the number of guests you may bring. Please advise your guests to try to arrive at least one hour prior to the ceremony. Allow additional time for the larger ceremonies (Business, Engineering, and CLASS).

As you may have already seen in the news recently, mortgage rates continue to fall to all time lows.  Plus, with foreclosures still a problem in most areas of the country driving down home prices, it may very well be the time to start looking seriously at purchasing a home (if you’ve been thinking about it).

NewMe Accelerator Class

For the last three months, the NewMe Accelerator class of spring 2012 has been fully immersed in the entrepreneurial process. The NewMe “founders” have been busy working long days at The Hub in San Francisco and living together in a house nearby. The goal: to develop, design and launch new startup companies.

Last week these NewMe founders held their demo day in the Google San Francisco office, where they presented the fruits of their efforts—seven brand new companies—to an audience of more than 100 investors, entrepreneurs and supporters.

This is the second year of NewME, a program designed by founder and CEO Angela Benton to be an accelerator in Silicon Valley for minority-led startups from around the country. We’ve been delighted to participate in and sponsor both seasons.

Some NewME products have already launched in beta and are live in market. Founder Naithan Jones of AgLocal has 20 farms using the beta version of his Local Meat Lovers Service, which is running in his hometown of Kansas City and in the Bay Area.
